Have you ever wanted to get to know your neighbors better? Wish there was an easy way to break the ice? Want to do something fun for the neighborhood that takes less than an hour or two of prep time? Sounds like you could use a little block party in your life!

Step 1 - Pick A Day

  • The first step to a great block party is simply picking a date and sticking to it!

  • We’ve found that Sunday evenings work best during the summer as people come home from traveling and love not having to plan a meal.

Step 2 - Pick A Location

  • Think through where you can host a block party. Someone’s yard, driveway, or a cul-de-sac work great. If you don’t have the space, just knock on a neighbor’s door and ask them what they think. You’d be surprised at how willing people are to pitch in and help out.

Step 3 - Sign Up For Supplies

  • Click the Northlake registration link to reserve any of our supplies to borrow for your party - the best part is it’s free of cost.

  • Supplies include

    • Tables

    • Chairs

    • Sandwich Board

    • Posters and Flyers

    • Pop Up Canopy

    • Coolers

    • Drink Coolers

    • Axe Throwing Yard Game

    • Inflatables (new water inflatable this year)

    • Yard Games

      • Big Jenga Yard Game

      • Big Connect 4 Yard Game

      • Cornhole Set

Step 4 - Enlist Some Help & Get the word out

  • People love to help! Connect with your neighbors and ask for help with:

    • Setup

    • Grilling

    • clean up

  • Set up signs/Pass out flyers/post on social media

    • It’s best to get the word out in your neighborhood at least 3 weeks in advance. We’ve found that flyers you leave at folks doors or a sandwich board (that you can borrow from us) works great.

  • Knock on doors The Day Of

    • Even if you done a great job to get the word out, nothing beats a knock on the door the day of to let people to know to come join in on the fun.

Step 5 - Have a blast

  • After all that, the best part is to sit back and watch your community grow in friendships and connections. The best part about a block party is it’s a low risk and high reward. Learn folks names, enjoy a meal, and shine the light of Jesus!
