Mexico Mission 2012

Date: August 5, 2012 - August 11, 2012

Next August, a group from Northlake Community Church will travel to Vicente Guerrero, on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. About 5-6 hours drive south of the border, we will arrive at an orphanage for needy children (called Foundation for His Ministry, www.ffhm.org). Foundation for His Ministry is a Christian charitable ministry that has served the poorest of the poor in Mexico for over 40 years, by providing homes for needy children and other outreach services to people bound in poverty.       . We took 26 Northlakers on this trip in 2010, and it was a wonderful and enlightening time for all who went.

The orphanage needs volunteers to help out in a number of ways the range from caring for the children to providing maintenance to the facility. This mission trip is perfect for singles, couples, and families with children 13 or older, because it provides a structured and safe time of experiencing cross-cultural missions.

The group from Northlake will be serving in a variety of ways. The team will minister to the children in the migrant camps by working alongside the mission's leaders and feeding the children much needed protein (milk and peanut butter). Some jobs might include pulling weeds/yard work, scrubbing floors, mending, working in the "nut house" (macadamia nut processing), cleaning, kitchen work or digging ditches...just to name a few.

If you have never served on a short term mission, then this may be a good initial experience! Please contact the church office at 671-4300. We are planning to send 30 people, and the space promises to fill fast. Please pray that the Lord will direct you, and if you sense that this is a mission trip for you to experience, sign up now.  More information and details about costs and logistics will be coming in the new year.

More on FFHM: This ministry is a non-profit, non-denominational organization with a volunteer missionary staff of over 150 and a fully volunteer board. The story of how this faith adventure began is told in the book, "Charla's Children," and reflects J. Hudson Taylor's mission claim: "God's work, done in God's way, will never lack God's supply."
