Current Needs

Walking School Bus: We need two adult volunteers twice a day to walk about a dozen or so K-5 students to and from Regency Park Apartments and Carl Cozier Elementary. 
- Mon-Fri 8:00 am
- Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri at 3:00 pm

Good News Clubs (through Child Evangelism Fellowship): There are two clubs in need of additional assistants.
- Northern Heights Elementary
- Regency Park

Help is needed with games, crafts, sign-in, and providing snacks.

NCC has an active role in our community and that role relies heavily on our congregation. We have a number of areas we invest in for our community.

Working with local non-profits

  • The Whatcom Dream
    • Working with and in the Roosevelt Neighborhood
    • Sponsoring/participating in the Community Toy Store each Christmas
    • Hosting the Whatcom Dream Auction
  • Love Inc
  • Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic
  • Northwest Community Fest and the Season of Service
    • Participated in the Graffiti Clean-Up Project
    • Hosted the Roosevelt Neighborhood Night Out
    • Participating in the Garden Project

Providing help and support for those in need through our own Care Ministries

  • Friends and Food Program
  • Our own NCC Food Bank
  • Counseling Referrals,
  • Financial counseling and assistance

Current Service Opportunities:

  1. Christmas: Help cook or serve a meal to low income people in Friends and Food.
  2. Dishwasher for the Friends and Food Christmas lunch.
  3. Provide gifts for children through the annual Community Toy Store.
  4. Coordinate or assist with providing a meal for the Toy Store families.
  5. Work at the annual Toy Store at Roosevelt School for two hours.
  6. Walk a group of young children from a school to their housing complex before or after school in the “Walking School Bus” program.
  7. Assist with Wednesday after school Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) club in a low income housing complex.
  8. Assist with the Friday after school CEF club at Roosevelt School.
  9. Assist with the CEF club at Northern Heights Elementary (near the church) on Wednesdays.
  10. Provide treats for any of the three CEF clubs.
  11. Assist in the Whatcom Dream financial classes in the community.
  12. Be a mentor or tutor for a child in the Rebound program.
  13. Provide a meal for the children attending a Rebound group. 
  14. Help in the kitchen for the Friends and Food meals or sit and have coffee with the people attending Friends and Food.
