Luke Diamond, Student Ministries Pastor
I was born and raised in Ironton, Ohio. I went to Ironton HS followed by Ohio Christian University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Student Ministry with a minor in Biblical Studies. I grew up a church kid and as a result I went to church camp the majority of my JH and HS years. I mention that because that is where I met my beautiful wife Olivia, during my junior year of HS.

I grew up a church kid and remember the many vacation bible schools, going to church on Sundays, and then always getting Taco Bell afterward. When I was 9 years old, I was baptized and accepted Jesus as my savior. I knew from a young age that God was real and that Jesus loved me, but I did not quite understand the relationship with Jesus part. It wasn’t until I started attending youth group in JH that I understood that there was sin in my life and Jesus was the way to be free from this condition of sin.

During my time in youth group I would have many awesome youth leaders step into my life and show me how to be more like Jesus. There was one youth pastor in particular who stepped into my life in a big way my sophomore year of HS...I had never seen my faith grow more than it did in that three-month period of knowing him. I was so excited until the day he announced he was leaving our church. I can remember being so confused and angry that God would allow someone so influential in my life to disappear. It was then that God started to ignite in me the passion for student ministry. Later that year at summer camp, during an evening service, God revealed to me that I was being called to full time student ministry. This call has been undeniable ever since and it is my passion to serve students.

Ever since I have made it my goal to enter into students’ lives and show them Jesus. I have done this through many different ministries, the most prominent being that of working on summer staff at my home church camp and volunteering with Young Life. I was a volunteer leader in the Young Life organization for about 4 years and God time and time again used this ministry to form my philosophy for and reaffirm my call to Student ministry.

My favorite part about working with students is being able to enter into their world, gain their respect, and then introduce them to a relationship with Jesus.
